Pee ech Deee Nanoscience? a lower study not higher study!!! ( a short story)
Barber Siddique was busy with shaping the hairs of his customer and he was not bothering about us. It was so crowded in the men’s beauty parlour on the last day of Ramzan, the day before the eidul fithr. All were waiting and I was sitting near a white dressed man with white head cover and he looked like a Mullah. He was a very humble, un-educated but behaves like he have knowledge on religious matters, a pure and poor villager and earns money by doing religious things for other people. This Mullah was earning money for reading holly book in a doctor’s home in my village. It was the first time I met him and I have handed the news paper that I was reading to get rid of boredom of waiting. But, he kept it in the table and asked me “he..he…hee...I did not see you before, were you in Gulf?”, “me …in gulf… I am studying…”. I noticed that something has gone from his face when I told that I was not working in Gulf because he was expecting some money from me and it was the right month (Ramzan, we people distribute our wealth to poor people during this month) to get it. “hee..ee..still studying…what are you studying?”, I replied him “Research, Ph.D”. But he is not ready to leave me and he is not convinced by my reply, “Whats that research? Pee esch Deee?!.will you get money?.”..I have to give him more explanation, “it is after PG, some times we will get money and many time we have to invest money”..”oh…so..you have done PG and you have not done BA?”..”how can I explain you! It is after BSc or BA, then MSc or MA” “haa..I don’t know what research is”..”it is finding new things”..”ahaa…scientist!..then what you are doing?!”..I was confused, that if I tell him that I am working on Nanoscience and he will be confused more, so I told him “I don’t know how to explain this things to you, hum…I am studying about very small materials…”, he laughed “oh..ha.haa.haa…so it is not higher study, only a lower study!...he..he..” and I was stunned when I heard this abased reply.
