Nowadays, the Mallu politicians are in a verbal and in a non verbal fight to change the educational policy of the kerala education ministry. Those people are worrying about the communist policy and communism, even the supporters of the communist party in the last parliamentry election also. Its true that no permanent enimy in politics, its truly poli-tricks. I like to share my thoughts here on these daily issues than writing about my daily events.
Personally I feel that there are two main problems with this issue, one is that these politicians who are against the 7th standard book have not read the book properly and second, they are truly aiming the next election.
The chapter onwhich they are confused is that "Madhamillatha jeevan" (jeeva without religion), it is a story of an inter-religion married couple and their child. The reiligion of the child if the couple are from different religion It is a dilemma of the family of the same kind in every where. The same question is arised to the 7th standard student, i dont know how this kind of story affect the religion of the student as the political parties exposed to the malayalee society. This question is not vague but unambigous that which will bring out the children from darkness. As a student and as a citizen of the democratic country I like the same question, we should think above the religion. The people are against the chapter have read the book with prejudice.
Education and knowledge occurs through experience not by teaching. We should practice the things before we explain the moral things to the child. Therefore the same story from the 7th standard text book will teach the student a very good lesson about selecting the religion and religious ideas by involving in the live example. We should not teach the religion and the beliefs in the school but we should teach them live stories. School is not a place to teach religion, it is a place where the student get an exposure to the outside world by mingling with other religious people without any religious boundary. The people should react against the politicians with hidden agendas and should throw out them from power. Other wise, we the keralites will be a slave to the bishaps, mullas and narayans.
The fight against the text book is unambigously politically motivated and planned towards the coming parliamentry election.
We have to read the text book without prejudice and we should allow the child to think freely but not selectively. Parents have no right to impose the child to follow a particualar religion but he can advise him. The chapter on the 7th standard book also telling the same, then why should we want to support the fight against the text book. Let the child to think freely and clear. Allow him to live in a multi-religious group other wise we cannot make a generation with patience and tolerance with our education.
